Role Overview

As a Trainee Junior Engineer at Wabtec, you will be responsible for diesel-electric locomotive repair and maintenance activities, including scheduled, unscheduled, heavy maintenance, and wreck repair of 4500 HP and 6000 HP locomotives. The role offers hands-on exposure to advanced rolling stock systems while working in a safety-first, high-performance manufacturing and maintenance environment.

Key Responsibilities

Locomotive Maintenance & Repair

- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of diesel-electric locomotives

- Execute heavy maintenance and wreck repair activities within defined quality and timeline standards

- Maintain accurate maintenance records and technical documentation

Safety & Compliance

- Promote and maintain a safe working environment

- Ensure compliance with local regulations and customer safety policies

- Maintain clean, organized, and compliant work areas

Technical Operations

- Diagnose and troubleshoot locomotive system faults

- Support maintenance activities related to engines, bogies, braking systems, traction motors, and control systems

- Learn and adopt IT-based monitoring systems for locomotive maintenance

Collaboration & Reporting

- Work effectively in a shop-floor environment

- Coordinate with team members and supervisors for job execution

- Use Microsoft Office tools for reporting and documentation

Required Qualifications

- Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics or related discipline)

- 1–3 years of relevant operations or maintenance experience

- Willingness to work in 24×7 shift operations

- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

- Ability to work in industrial and shop-floor environments
